Peer Review Policy

Peer Review Process
The publication of an article in JKBN: Jurnal Kepariwisataan & Budaya Nusantara is based on its scientific validity and coherence, as assessed by the editors and/or peer reviewers. They also ensure that the manuscript is comprehensible and makes a meaningful contribution to the field. JKBN highly values the dedication and constructive feedback provided by reviewers.

Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the editor. While rare, exceptional manuscripts may be accepted at this stage. Manuscripts that are rejected at this stage typically lack originality, contain significant scientific flaws, or fall outside the scope of JKBN. Those that meet the minimum criteria are forwarded to expert reviewers for further assessment.

Type of Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are typically reviewed by two to three experts. Reviewers evaluate the scientific soundness, coherence, originality, and clarity of the manuscript. JKBN follows a blind peer review process to maintain objectivity and fairness.

Review Reports
Reviewers are asked to assess whether the manuscript:

  1. Is original, with clearly stated research objectives and study gaps.
  2. Uses a sound and appropriate methodology.
  3. Adheres to ethical research guidelines.
  4. Presents results clearly and supports the conclusions.
  5. Correctly references relevant previous work.

Reviewers are not responsible for proofreading or language editing, as language correction is not part of the peer review process.

Decision
Reviewers provide recommendations to the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript. The editor makes the decision based on review reports and, if necessary, consults the Editorial Board. The editor's decision is final.
